J4F. Best Gift?

April 5th, 2011 at 06:35 pm

All the beautiful weather has me thinking about being outside with the wind in my hair.

J4F Question:
Would you rather be a racecar driver OR racehorse rider?
---------

CeeJay asked about best gifts awhile back. (Sorry CeeJay I'm soo slow!)
I've been thinking about this and I have had a lot of wonderful gifts. Last year my DD gave me a set of notecards with matching envelopes that she had decorated with paints. They are beautiful and I haven't been able to bring myself to use them. My DH has surprised me with special dinners out and even an overnight getaway that I had no clue about. My mom gave me an antique cameo pin on my 30th bday that she was given from her dad on her 30th bday.

I do like speed, but I love riding horses, so I'll say racehorse jockey. Of course cars are going to be super fast, but the races are much, much longer and it gets hot in those cars. If any of you have ever full out galloped on a horse you know what a flying type feeling that is. It's Awesome. Big Grin

Ugh, race cars are a really sore subject with me. REALLY SORE. You have no idea. Frown My life is stuck in limbo while DH cries about not having a race car. It's been like this for years. Nearing my breaking point. Give me the horse please - I'm preferring animals over humans these days. Smile Never been on a horse though!

I'd rather take the horse ride!

I'm a terrible rider. I have been thrown off, scraped off against a fence (!), kicked, and bitten. I've fallen on jumps and had the horse run off, only to have the finder return the horse via the sheriff. Well, really all that happened with just one horse, but over time it made me fearful of horses. But I'd still rather race horses than cars!

OK, my answer has lots of conditions. I'd be way too scaredy-cat to do either one (and I've never really ridden a horse--I think I've been slowly led around on a gentle old horse once or twice like at fairs, but if so, that was when I was a kid and that's way different). Also, my commitment to the environment wouldn't allow me to drive for fun, and my commitment to not using animals wouldn't allow me to race a horse.

That said--RACE CAR! I think NASCAR is so cool, despite it being against my environmental beliefs. Hey, sometimes people don't make sense, right? Wink
