Shopping & Football

January 22nd, 2012 at 04:36 pm

Last night I used Plastic Jungle and bought a $50 Bed, Bath and Beyond gift card for $45. That way in a roundabout way I will save on my shipping.
($7 to ship a shower curtain. Grrrr!)
Could not find any free shipping or %/off coupons that were valid online either.

Thanks mjrube94 for commenting about doing this. I have never done it this way before, but have thought how it would be a good way to save.
(Usually I think "I should have bought a discounted GC." after I make a purchase! Wink)

I don't have the gift card code yet. Plastic Jungle says it takes them about 24 hours to process. I have the curtain and liner all picked out.
Hope I love it.

Going to run over to the grocery store now. As predicted we need milk. We also need butter and eggs. I will try very hard to only pick up those things and no extra on sale items. Smile

More football playoffs today.

GO NINERS!!!

After they win today they'll be in the Super Bowl! Big Grin

I've had good luck selling on plastic jungle and have heard good things about buying there.

I can usually find pretty good online coupons and free shipping for most purchases, but never really thought about this too. Another way to shave off 2.5%. Good deal!

I need to do the discounted gift card thing more, too! I hope you like your purchase. If not, I hope you can return at the store!

This is the first I have read about Plastic Jungle, it sounds like it offers some insurance of good deals on coupons/cards. Who is selling them, clients or the companies themselves? Oh, I'm pulling for New England today, as well... and I hope the Pats meet the 49ers in the Super Bowl!

Glad it worked out. Jerry, Plastic Jungle and others (I've used Cardpool too) work as a clearinghouse. They'll buy from people at one price (say $20 for a $25 card) then sell that card to a buyer for $21. They keep the difference and everyone is happy. The cards come from Plastic Jungle directly, and deals vary pretty significantly by merchant.

Looking forward, you could also try connecting to the online site through Ebates (or similar). They send you back a % of your sale. I don't have an account with them, but others here do (keeping it frugal maybe?). If you ask in a post, I'm sure you'll get lots of referrals Wink
