No Eating Out in Sept. & Gearing Up for Oct.

September 30th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

The No Eating Out Challenge for September:
I had fast food once for lunch.
DH had fast food three times (but he didn't know about the "challenge").
I bought ice cream out when MIL was visiting.
DD did the best and packed a lunch every day!
As far as a complete meal out we only had pizza delivered for dinner. That means only one family meal that we did not make ourselves.

There were several times we were tempted to order out or stop and pick something up, but my family was supportive of my wishes to not eat out. Smile

I say *Success* for September.

The goal for October will be to allow for one family meal out. I know DH will have a few fast food lunches, but he is committed to keeping that to once a week or less. I will allow myself lunch out once for the month.

I plan to continue grocery shopping only every other week. DH did pick up a gallon of milk today because we were not going to have enough to get us to next weekend. That was the only purchase. Hooray!

September's grocery spending came to $570.
There has been plenty to eat, so no one is going hungry in case you're wondering. Wink

Great job! Thanks btw for the referral link for Ting! I had to delete your comment though with the link because it showed your full name when I entered it. I hope there's a way to edit that because I'd like to eventually do a post on Ting on my other blog, as well as here .... do not want my full name accessible to every one who stops by, if you know what I mean. Smile

You've done great! Terrific! It's the hardest thing to go to the grocery store with a list or perhaps one or two items and come out with only what you planned to purchase. I let DH go to the store this AM for some fruit or cut flowers to take to a friend who invited us for dinner tonight. Big mistake...Giant mistake! 3 bags full and there really isn't room in the fridge for the stuff he chose. The stuff he chose like deli meat, gourmet mustard, Italian bread, etc. isn't good for us. the fruit was so-oooo expensive, the only thing I'm happy to have is grapefruit. He did buy a nice selection of fruit that allowed me to set up a nice fruit tray. one more tray out the door, getting rid of extra stuff one day at a time

Nice going! And even your DH did a great job, especially without the insurance of knowing about it to start out with... Smile I hope that October leads to even further success for you.
